Professional Career

Dr. Michael Aepli graduated from the University of Zurich Law School (lic. iur. 1999) and was admitted to the Zurich Bar in 2001. He worked as a research and teaching assistant at the University of Zurich at the department of criminal law of Prof. Dr. Andreas Donatsch. He was awarded a doctorate in law for a thesis on seizure (Dr. iur. 2003).

From 2001 to 2006 Dr. Michael Aepli worked in a renowned business law firm in Zurich. Dr. Michael Aepli represents clients in complex cases before civil and criminal courts at all levels as well as before administrative authorities and law enforcement agencies. His main areas of practice are corporate, commercial and contract law as well as law of succession. In addition, he is specialised in the field of white-collar crime and mutual legal assistance in criminal matters / proceedings of letters rogatory. Dr. Michael Aepli is member of the Advisory Board of national- and international companies.

Having finished his postgraduate studies in Sydney with a Master of Corporate and Commercial Law (LL.M. 2007), he established the law firm Studer & Aepli in Zug in cooperation with Peter Georg Studer, attorney-at-law and notary, in 2008.

Publications

Dr. Michael Aepli published a thesis concerning the seizure of electronically stored data („Die strafprozessuale Sicherstellung von elektronisch gespeicherten Daten“). Dr. Michael Aepli collaborated on different academic publications and is author of essays concerning public procurement and traffic law. He also published essays in the area of the private credit act and residence and working permits. Furthermore, he wrote essays concerning house search and seizure.
